The creator of Linux explained what modern AI truly is.
Finnish programmer and creator of the Linux kernel, Linus Benedict Torvalds, renowned for his outspoken remarks and critiques of software developers, has shared his thoughts on the artificial intelligence industry.

“In my opinion, AI is truly fascinating. I believe it will change the world,” said Torvalds in an interview with TFiR at the Open Source summit in Vienna (Austria).
However, as the creator of Linux pointed out, the entire AI industry is 90 percent marketing and only 10 percent reality.
The developer is confident that in the next five years, everything will change: people will see which aspects of AI will be used daily to tackle real work problems, rather than just for chatting with ChatGPT.
Moreover, Torvalds is not convinced by the capabilities of modern large language models, such as those from OpenAI: according to him, they merely “deliver excellent presentations.”
