As reported by the publication South China Morning Post, experts from Dalian Maritime University, along with Chinese engineering and scientific companies, have developed the underwater cable laying machine Haiwei GD11000. This machine has a working load exceeding 15 tons and can lay cables at a speed of up to 120 meters per minute.
Haiwei GD11000 has successfully completed two operations at depths greater than four kilometers in the South China Sea, thereby setting a new world record, surpassing the achievement of the Italian company Prysmian, which laid an underwater cable at a depth of 2150 meters.
