Archaeologists have discovered the largest Viking Age hall in the UK.
In the northwest of England, near the village of Holm Saint Cuthbert in Cumbria, archaeologists have uncovered a significant structure dating back to the end of the Viking era. The dimensions of the building, which likely served as a great hall, measured approximately 50 by 15 meters.

Radiocarbon analysis of the wood revealed that the structure was built between 990 and 1040 AD. Researchers noted that the discovered building is the largest Viking Age hall in Britain.
Other findings included remnants of a grain drying oven, stone-lined walls, and staircases.
