An astronaut captured the Milky Way, the Northern Lights, and a rising sun all in one stunning photo.
American astronaut Don Pettit has shared a new photograph of space that he captured from aboard the International Space Station.

The photo was taken from the porthole of the Dragon spacecraft on the Crew 9 mission, which belongs to SpaceX and will soon return to Earth with the NASA astronauts who are "stuck" in space.
The image showcases a portion of the Milky Way arch, the glow of the atmosphere, the aurora borealis, and the rising sun over the cloudy Pacific Ocean.
Pettit explained that he approaches the color settings on the camera with great care to accurately depict the natural colors of space for the inhabitants of our planet.
