After the investigation by Bihus.Info into the former head of the Kyiv Metro, Viktor Braginsky, his closest associates began to "quietly" leave their positions. Among them are Deputy Dmitry Peklun, former financial director Alexey Khaymenov, and chief lawyer Vladimir Babenko.
In the latest issue, journalists discovered that Peklun lived in an elite building in Kozyn, which was not officially registered anywhere – according to documents, his family owned only an empty plot there. However, shortly after the purchase, the plot "magically" transformed into an expensive mansion.
There is not a word about this in the declaration.
Another curious point is the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 valued at up to 5 million UAH, registered in the name of Peklun's 70-year-old mother-in-law. Following the publication of the investigation, searches were conducted at his home.
Financial director Khaymenov also did not lag behind. He declared real estate worth millions of hryvnias, but as "gifts" from relatives. This included an apartment across the street from the metro office, the market value of which could reach 2.5 million UAH. In 2024, he added another apartment and a garage – again "gifts," this time from his 72-year-old mother.
Phantom Divorces and a Life of Luxury
The metro lawyer Babenko turned out to be an even more enigmatic figure. In his 2016 declaration, he listed his wife and daughter, but they later "disappeared" from it.
Journalists found intriguing details: despite official information about a divorce since 2010, in 2019 he, along with his "ex," purchased several neighboring apartments and parking spaces in one residential complex. In 2020, their daughter posted photos on Instagram from a family celebration of her parents' wedding anniversary.
Additionally, his family owned two more apartments in Sofiivska Borshchahivka, but they are registered under the names of his mother, wife, and daughter.
Where Did Braginsky Go?
The former metro head resigned back in March 2024, just as the scandal was gaining momentum. In June, he was declared wanted – according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he was last seen in Kyiv on June 20. Since then, he has vanished.
Meanwhile, NABU is investigating corruption in the Kyiv Metro, and part of the former leadership of the capital's subway has gone into hiding. However, their assets and "gifts" speak for themselves.
