The chart displays 10 countries that will contribute the most to the population growth of our planet in the near future. The data is provided by the United Nations and is current as of September 2024. It is expected that by 2037, these 10 nations will account for 49% of the population increase.

The top ten includes five African countries and four from Asia. India, currently regarded as the most populous country in the world, is projected to increase its population by 147 million people, which is equivalent to the entire population of Russia.
Following India is Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa. Based on current growth rates, Nigeria's largest city, Lagos, could even become the largest megacity by the end of the century.

The United States is the only country outside these two regions to make the list, largely due to immigration.

It is anticipated that the Earth's population will continue to grow until it peaks in the 2080s—potentially surpassing the 10 billion mark.
