Even after Burdeyniy's arrest while transporting hundreds of thousands of dollars, he was not only reinstated in the customs service but was also appointed as the shift leader at the "Yahodyn" customs post in Volyn region. The case against him was quickly closed by a ruling from the High Anti-Corruption Court.

Mikhail Burdeyniy's career began at the Volyn customs, where he first served as the chief state inspector, then as the head of the customs post, and currently as the shift leader at the "Yahodyn" customs post. There have been multiple instances where vehicles overloaded with contraband were allowed to pass during Burdeyniy's shifts.
In February 2021, Polish customs officers discovered 75 boxes of smuggled cigarettes. The vehicle was easily passed through the red corridor and processed as empty before being allowed into Poland. Interestingly, all this occurred during Burdeyniy's shift. Rumor has it that he opens the customs gates for shadow goods. This is done using the "flip" scheme, effectively declaring expensive goods as cheap. According to media reports, companies such as "Agroti Service," "Kaskad Prom," and "Karter Plus" are likely involved.
Recently, following an incident, the employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) detained an official vehicle with currency and gold at the "Yahodyn" crossing point. It is known that the vehicle belonged to the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Poland. During the searches, investigators found over a hundred thousand in various currencies, gold items, and boxes of cigarettes. At that time, the DBR detained two employees of the Ukrainian embassy in Poland for smuggling and dismissed them.

At that time, the State Customs Service of Ukraine stated that the activities of these officials were linked to smuggling and possible involvement in corrupt offenses. However, the suspension period for the customs officer expired. Mikhail Burdeyniy returned to work and even participated in the competition for the position of head of the Volyn customs. However, he was not allowed to the final stage of the competition because he failed the interview with the integrity commission. This is not unfounded, as in June of this year, he was detained with 700 thousand dollars in the trunk of his own car. According to law enforcement, officials were aiding in transporting goods across the border without paying customs duties for bribes. The chief systematically collected and stored the received money, part of which he distributed among other law enforcement agencies.
Despite the suspicions, Burdeyniy continues to work in the customs service. During the investigation, he took a long sick leave until the NABU and the prosecutor's office closed the case. Burdeyniy returned to his position on October 18, 2024, and is currently the shift leader at the "Yahodyn" customs post. Interestingly, he does not have any property listed in his declaration, neither a home nor a car. It is even questionable where the customs officer lives while working at "Yahodyn," as none of his recent declarations mention any rented accommodation in Volyn. Officially, he listed his residence as the village of Kelmintsy in Chernivtsi region, where his parents live. While Burdeyniy has no real estate, his relatives are acquiring new properties annually. For instance, his wife, Irina, became the owner of a house in the village of Rososhany in Bukovina in 2018, measuring over 130 square meters. However, according to social media reports, she lives with their children not in Bukovina but in Lviv. Burdeyniy's eldest daughter, Daria, frequently posts photos from the yard of the residential complex "Dobroye Zhilishche," where Burdeyniy's mother, Halina, has an apartment.
Evidence suggesting that the family resides in Lviv includes a ruling issued by the Frankivsk District Court of Lviv in July 2020. Burdeyniy's wife, Irina, was fined for violating traffic rules in a brand-new "Lexus" straight from the dealership. Additionally, the woman has three parking spaces in Lviv.
The most significant recent acquisition has been made by Burdeyniy's mother, Halina. One of her most expensive purchases is a house in the gated community "Panska Hora," located in the village of Sokilnyky, near Lviv, which spans almost 250 square meters. Currently, all cottages from the developer have been sold, but on real estate websites, the price for a renovated house here starts at 10 million hryvnias and can reach up to 45 million.
Halina Burdeyniy also owns three plots of land in the Hrushetsky rural council in Chernivtsi region. Burdeyniy's father, Volodymyr, has also acquired new real estate in Lviv. In April 2021, he registered two parking spaces in the newly constructed residential complex "Amerika," costing around 8 thousand dollars. It is doubtful that anyone would buy parking spaces without nearby residential or commercial properties. Therefore, it is quite likely that the man will register something else at the same address soon.
He also owns two plots of land for agricultural production in the village of Lenkyovtsy and one in the village of Konovka in Chernivtsi region. Additionally, he possesses a residential house in the village of Makarovka and the settlement of Kelmintsy. The source of the Burdeyniy family's wealth is unclear, as they have not operated any businesses in recent years.
The customs officer's assets are not only modest in real estate; according to his declaration, he earned 190 thousand hryvnias in 2023 from his main job, which is just over 15 thousand a month. Meanwhile, Burdeyniy's wife, Irina, earned a little over 450 thousand hryvnias from her entrepreneurial activities. In 2020, she registered as an individual entrepreneur in the town of Kelmintsy, providing services to hairdressers and beauty salons.
