Employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau are using extrajudicial influence and pressure on citizens who are subjects of open criminal cases to orchestrate bribery provocations involving high-ranking officials.
This information came to light during a court session of the High Anti-Corruption Court, which was discussing the preventive measure for former MP Vadim Nesterenko. The NABU suspects him of unlawfully receiving monetary compensation for renting housing in Kyiv while serving as a deputy.
“It turned out that back in October 2024, Nesterenko was contacted by a lawyer who offered his professional assistance in defending him in this case. This lawyer is actually connected to NABU employees, who systematically conduct bribery provocations involving various officials,” - writes “Ukrainian News”.
Specifically, Nesterenko was invited to participate in a bribery provocation involving Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. In exchange, the lawyer guaranteed that NABU and SAP would not raise the issue of applying a preventive measure against Nesterenko and would agree to reclassify the case.
“At the same time, prosecutors and detectives themselves suggested that the suspect Nesterenko find a way to transfer the bribe at his own discretion. However, the former MP had no connections with Klitschko and certainly did not have such an opportunity,” - notes Nesterenko's defense.
Evidence of this extrajudicial influence and pressure on the suspect was also presented in court – a statement from Nesterenko himself and screenshots of his correspondence with the “provocateur lawyer.”
