Starting next week, the Ukrainian government will begin serious negotiations to finalize a minerals agreement and security guarantees with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
This is reported by
NHK, referencing the words of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The Speaker noted that the Ukrainian government will begin work on an expert group for signing a rare earth agreement with the USA starting Monday, February 24. He emphasized that Ukraine is prepared to collaborate with partners regarding the country's natural resources but seeks specific security guarantees.
The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada also mentioned that his country aims to engage in constructive discussions and is eager to hold a summit with the USA as soon as possible.
At the same time, Stefanchuk reminded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed to the United States to jointly develop Ukrainian mineral resources as part of his "victory plan" last September.
It is worth noting that, according to
Bloomberg, representatives from Ukraine and the USA expect to resolve disagreements in the strategic minerals agreement during negotiations this week. It may be signed personally by Zelensky and Trump.
