The RKK "Energy" has shared insights about the upcoming Russian orbital station.
In a comprehensive interview, Ilya Zheleznov, a design engineer at the S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation "Energia," provided insights into the upcoming Russian Orbital Station (ROS).

Main Points:
- The new station will be "eternal" as it features an open architecture that allows for the replacement of any outdated or damaged module, including the universal node — the core of the ROS;
- The ROS will be equipped with optical-electronic and radio remote sensing tools for Earth observation, as well as communication systems for prompt decision-making, even in the absence of astronauts during emergencies;
- Earth monitoring will be conducted simultaneously across various spectral ranges (radar, infrared, optical tools);
- An orbital inclination of 96.8-97 degrees will enable observation of the entire territory of Russia, including the Northern Sea Route and the adjacent shelf of the Arctic Ocean;
- All work on the creation of the first ROS module is on schedule;
- The advanced next-generation transport spacecraft (PTK NP) will transport a crew of two to the ROS (although it is designed for four astronauts), with the freed-up space being used for cargo delivery and return. The PTK NP will be able to deliver four times more payload to the ROS and return ten times more to Earth than the currently used "Soyuz MS".
