Earth is safe: asteroid 2024 YR4 has been assigned a zero probability of colliding with our planet.
Experts from the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) have reduced the likelihood of asteroid YR4 2024 colliding with Earth in 2032 to 0.005%, or 1 in 20,000, following new observations. Richard Binzel, a professor of planetology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and creator of the Torino Scale, shared this information with Space.com.

Thanks to new data obtained on February 23, astronomers have assigned asteroid 2024 YR4 a zero probability of collision on the Torino scale. This indicates "no danger."
The Torino scale uses values ranging from zero to nine. A zero means that the likelihood of the object colliding with Earth is extremely low, while a 10 signifies that a collision is inevitable and will have global consequences.
