Zelensky has identified the first traitors who will be stripped of their state honors.

According to the decree issued by President Volodymyr Zelensky, which enforces the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to revoke state awards from traitors of Ukraine, a total of 34 individuals will primarily lose their distinctions.

Зеленский объявил имена первых предателей, которые будут лишены государственных наград.

This is reported by the Office of the President.

The first list includes 34 individuals. Among them are former officials, members of parliament, leaders of the SBU and the Prosecutor General's Office, prosecutors, artists, and Russian political, religious, and cultural figures. All of them have been indefinitely stripped of Ukrainian state awards.

As explained by the head of state, the maximum set of sanctions—21 types—has been applied to ten of them. This not only involves the deprivation of Ukrainian state awards but also includes asset freezes, license and permit cancellations, and a complete halt to trade operations.

Among them, sanctions have been applied for the first time to seven individuals. Notably, this includes former first deputy leader of the political party "Party of Regions" and head of the corresponding faction, Oleksandr Yefremov, who held the orders "For Merit" of I-III degrees and the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of V degree.

Also stripped of awards is former first deputy attorney general of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin, who held the orders "For Merit" of II-III degrees and the title of "Honored Lawyer of Ukraine".

Additionally, eight individuals who are already under other Ukrainian sanctions have also been deprived of state awards, including:

  • Former people's deputy of the II-IV and IX convocations Viktor Medvedchuk. He was awarded the orders "For Merit" of I-III degrees and the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of V degree, and held the title of "Honored Lawyer of Ukraine".

  • Ex-Minister of Education and Science (2010-2014) Dmytro Tabachnyk. He held the orders of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of IV-V degrees and the title of "Honored Worker of Science and Technology".

  • Former Prime Minister of Ukraine (2010-2014) Mykola Azarov, who was awarded the orders "For Merit" of I-III degrees and the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of V degree, and also held the title of "Honored Economist of Ukraine".

  • Former Prosecutor General of Ukraine (2010-2014) Viktor Pshonka. He held the order "For Merit" of III degree.

  • Former people's deputy of the III-IX convocations Andriy Derkach. He held the order "For Merit" of III degree.

  • Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church and former KGB agent. He was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of I degree.

The honorary title "People's Artist of Ukraine" has been revoked from Russian singers Nikolai Baskov, Filip Kirkorov, Alexander Malinin, Russian composer Igor Krutoy, as well as singers Karolina Kuek (Ani Lorak) and Taissia Povaliy, who also lost the title of "Honored Artist of Ukraine".

It is worth noting that the Verkhovna Rada supported bill No. 11410, which provides for the deprivation of Ukrainian state awards from individuals convicted of serious or particularly serious crimes, criminal offenses against the foundations of national security of Ukraine, against peace, security of mankind, and international order, as well as specific offenses against public safety; those who promote the aggressor state or justify the occupation of Ukraine.

In the first reading, the Verkhovna Rada voted in August of this year for the bill on the deprivation of state awards for promoting or propagating aggressive Putin's Russia.

Recently, on November 20, this bill was finally approved.
