Over 55,000 individuals have been added to the Unified Registry of Missing Persons.

This was reported on air by the Commissioner for Missing Persons in Special Circumstances, Arthur Dobroserdov.

He reminded that on November 1, the government adopted amendments to the regulations regarding payments to the families of servicemen. Now, a court decision declaring a person deceased can serve as the basis for processing one-time financial assistance for the families of missing military personnel.

"To date, we already see that there are such court decisions, and based on these decisions, such payments are being processed. According to our registry data, we currently have over 55,000 individuals listed as missing, and we have information on 641 such decisions made by national courts that recognized a person as deceased after reviewing the evidence provided by citizens," said Dobroserdov.

Individuals who were previously denied financial assistance due to a lack of evidence of the serviceman's death can appeal to the court at their registration location or the last known residence of the missing person. They must also provide relevant evidence and information about potential witnesses who can confirm the fact of the citizen's death.

"The court reviews this and issues a decision. From the moment the court's decision comes into legal force, if it is not appealed, there are grounds for processing the corresponding pensions," the commissioner noted.

We reported that in Ukraine, the procedure for receiving one-time financial assistance for the relatives of deceased servicemen has been changed. Funds can be obtained within three years from the date of the court's decision declaring the serviceman deceased.

Additionally, the Cabinet of Ministers has regulated payments to servicemen who are or have participated in the military operation in Kharkiv.
