In the Sumy region, a former city council deputy from the currently banned Party of Regions in Ukraine has been detained.
He is accused of treason,
reports the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
It has been revealed that a former city council deputy from Shostka was recruited by the enemy's FSB in July of this year.
According to the investigation, the traitor secretly monitored the movements of Ukrainian Armed Forces convoys and documented the locations of Ukrainian troops defending the border areas of Sumy region. He drove around the area, taking photos and videos, and also pried necessary information from acquaintances.
The data obtained was sent by the agent to a staff member of the FSB in the Bryansk region. The SBU has already identified the curator.
In his so-called “reports,” the ex-regionalist requested to strike the city as soon as possible, including targeting the buildings of the TCC. However, he was eventually apprehended at his residence in Shostka, and his mobile phone was seized as evidence of criminal activity.
The man has been notified of suspicion of treason (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The suspect is currently in custody.
Recall that earlier in Kharkiv, a man was
detained who was running a Russian company and, moreover, helped the enemy launch spy satellites.
We also reported that in the Donetsk region, a group of Russian agents was
caught conducting reconnaissance of Ukrainian Armed Forces positions and correcting enemy strikes in the region.
