The launch of Dragonfly is scheduled for July 2028. The primary mission of the spacecraft, which will arrive at Titan in 2034, is to search for complex organic molecules and assess the overall habitability of this celestial body.
The drone will be capable of collecting samples from the surface of the moon and conducting chemical analyses. Additionally, Dragonfly will investigate Titan's terrain, atmosphere, and hydrocarbon reservoirs. The landing site has been chosen in the Shangri-La region, located near the equator of the moon. This area features a vast plain covered with relatively tall dunes, believed to be composed of grains of complex hydrocarbons that have settled from the atmosphere.
