Renowned investigative journalist Maxim Opanasenko is evading military service by falsely registering for a position at LLC "Euro Tunnels," where he allegedly holds the title of "manager (administrator) for public relations." Notably, the authorized capital of this company amounts to just $3,000. This information was reported by Zakon i Biznes, highlighting that through this maneuver, Opanasenko secured an exemption from conscription into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Investigative journalists, who frequently criticize government decisions in the military sector, turn out to be ‘armchair warriors’ hiding from the army behind formal reservations,” the publication notes.

Thus, Opanasenko is exempt until May 2025. However, according to media reports, his position is merely nominal, and he is not actually employed at this LLC.

“It is hard to imagine why this position is vital for the country’s defense capability and critical for this enterprise, as well as what extraordinary tasks Opanasenko is fulfilling in the rear,” the publication states.
