In one of the photos, the Earth's natural satellite is shown in complete solitude, appearing as a small gray dot; in another, part of Blue Ghost is visible against the backdrop of the Moon, reflecting sunlight.
The lunar lander Blue Ghost was launched into space in mid-January 2025. Its scientific program includes the study of lunar regolith and the structure of the Moon's interior, experiments to capture GPS signals on the Moon, determining the precise distance between Earth and its satellite, testing a radiation-resistant computer, and measuring the interaction between Earth's magnetosphere and solar wind.
Blue Ghost is currently in low Earth orbit, but everything will change on February 10, when the spacecraft performs a maneuver that will transition it to a lunar orbit. The landing on Selene is scheduled for March 2, 2025.
