As reported by the New York Times, Trump has "authorized" Elon Musk to take action to compel the aerospace company to stop delaying.
The tech billionaire is confident that new airliners can be put into production by shortening the time required for flight testing of the aircraft, as well as reducing access to the classified information necessary for working on new planes equipped with numerous systems to protect the president.
Recall that Trump ordered new planes in 2018 as part of a $3.9 billion contract. The airliners were expected to take to the skies by the end of 2024, but that has yet to happen.
Boeing, which is three years behind schedule, has hinted that it is unlikely to complete the construction of the presidential planes before the end of Trump's second term.
