The camera combines a 103-watt wide-spectrum laser with a real-time digital image processing system. This device can detect objects as small as 1.7 millimeters in diameter and determine their distance with an accuracy of up to 15.6 millimeters.
According to information from the South China Morning Post, this level of detail is 100 times greater than the capabilities of current cameras and lens-based telescopes.
In the future, the new camera could be placed on a satellite, allowing for the capture of minute details, including human faces, from a low Earth orbit.
