China has launched the world's largest car carrier ship.
The Chinese company BYD has launched a new vessel named Shenzhen, capable of transporting 9,200 vehicles.

The new car carrier, measuring 219 meters, has become the fourth vessel from BYD to be put into operation since January 2024. The first was the BYD Explorer No. 1, which has already completed several voyages to Europe and Brazil.
BYD Changzhou was launched in early December 2024, followed by BYD Hefei, which set sail last week. All three vessels can transport up to 7,000 cars.
The BYD Shenzhen car carrier, in addition to its size, is also notable for its eco-friendliness. According to company representatives, the vessel can operate on both traditional fuel and liquefied natural gas, and it is equipped with large modular battery packs to provide energy during docked periods.
