SubscribeDenis Gonchak spent one and a half months in the intensive care unit of the neurosurgery department at the Uzhhorod Regional Central Hospital following the accident. Despite the efforts of medical staff, his condition remained critical.
Only on January 1 was he transferred to the intensive care unit of the Khust District Hospital, where he ultimately passed away. This was reported by journalist Vitaliy Hlahola on his Telegram channel.
"I would like to remind you that in the same accident, Denis's wife was killed, and their daughter sustained serious injuries. The child is already recovering and has been discharged from the hospital after a lengthy treatment. The cast has been removed. The circumstances of the accident involving the BEB employee are still under investigation by law enforcement. This tragedy has left a little girl orphaned, who lost both her mother and father as a result of the accident," — clarified Vitaliy Hlahola.Trending articles now Horoscope for Saturday, January 4: how to create the perfect plan for body, soul, and wallet They will require the return of more than one pension: elderly Ukrainians have received an important warning Concerns all cardholders: "Oschadbank" has made an important decision Pensioners, large families, and IDPs will receive nearly 11,000 UAH each: how to claim the money Show more
The accident occurred in November 2024 when an Audi, driven by BEB lieutenant Konstantin Kedyk, veered into oncoming traffic. As a result of the collision, a mother of two children was killed, and Denis Gonchak suffered severe head injuries, remaining in intensive care for over one and a half months.
Konstantin Kedyk was detained, but the court allowed him to be released on bail of 242,000 hryvnias. This measure of restraint sparked public outrage. The appellate court, which was supposed to review the bail amount, postponed the hearing due to the suspect's lawyer claiming illness. In other words, he simply "went on sick leave."
This tragedy has become a symbol of the public demand for justice in the investigation of high-profile cases and the fight against corruption within the law enforcement system.
