Drones have been equipped with a laser for metal cutting for the first time.

Researchers from the National University of Defense Technology of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) have developed a groundbreaking device that enables small drones to fire powerful lasers. This was once thought to be impossible, as generating a laser beam with a long-range impact typically requires heavy and bulky equipment.

According to data from the South China Morning Post, Chinese scientists have equipped small drones with a redirecting device that enables them to capture laser beams and reflect them onto other objects.

This device assists drones in reflecting a laser beam with a power of up to 30 kilowatts, which is quite capable of cutting through metal.
