Yaroslava Mahuchikh from Dnipro has been nominated for the title of the world's best athlete in 2024.

Yaroslava Maguchikh has the chance to be named the best athlete of the year by World Athletics. The 23-year-old Ukrainian has made it to the top five contenders for this prestigious award. This was reported on the official website of World Athletics, as noted by "Vydomo".

Open voting will continue until October 20, allowing everyone to cast their vote for the athlete from Dnipro.

Maguchikh's competitors will include other champions from the 2024 Olympics:

• American Valarie Allman (discus throw),
• American Tara Davis-Woodhall (long jump),
• Australian Nina Kennedy (pole vault),
• Belgian Nafissatou Thiam (heptathlon).

The finalists in this category will be determined on November 4.
