The authors of the infographic reflected the average number of working hours per week per employee by country.
The data includes a sample of 108 out of 187 member states of the International Labour Organization, excluding information about the self-employed.
According to ILO standards, working more than 48 hours a week is considered excessive due to its negative impact on health, safety, productivity, and work-life balance.
Four out of five countries with the longest workweeks are in the Asia-Pacific region: India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Cambodia. In Europe, the workweek is generally shorter, with residents of the Netherlands averaging only 29.8 hours per week. In Russia, according to the ILO, people work an average of 39.6 hours per week.
