The Dark Energy Camera captured images of over 200 galaxies in the Pump cluster.
Astronomers at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile have released a new image of a galaxy cluster located 130 million light-years from Earth, towards the constellation of Puppis. The photo was captured by the Dark Energy Camera (DECam) on the Victor Blanco Telescope and showcases a portion of the 230 galaxies within the cluster.

In the cluster, two massive elliptical galaxies dominate — NGC 3268 (in the center) and NGC 3258 (bottom right). They are surrounded by several dwarf galaxies.
It is likely that these two structures are in the process of merging, which may provide evidence that the Hydra cluster actually consists of two smaller clusters that are actively interacting and merging.
