Now that Musk has solidified his position after supporting Donald Trump in the elections, NASA's attempts to send astronauts to the surface of Earth's natural satellite by the end of the decade may face significant setbacks — or appear entirely different after the intervention of high-ranking officials.

Most likely (at least in the short term), the U.S. will abandon the costly and inefficient SLS rocket in favor of SpaceX's reusable Starship or Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket.
