Technology mogul Elon Musk responded to the news from The Metro and stated that his company The Boring Company could construct such a tunnel for 1000 times less cost. This means approximately 20 billion dollars.
As a reminder, Musk founded The Boring Company in 2016 to implement some of these infrastructure projects, and in 2022, he announced a proposal to build a tunnel for Tesla to travel underground and avoid traffic jams in Miami. However, this and other similar projects proposed for Los Angeles and New York did not progress further.
