Northrop Grumman will launch a satellite equipped with a pair of robotic arms into space.

The subsidiary of the American defense corporation Northrop Grumman, SpaceLogistics, is set to launch the Mission Robotic Vehicle (MRV) satellite in 2026. This satellite will feature robotic arms designed by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. The MRV aims to extend the operational lifespan of satellites currently positioned in geostationary orbit.

The robotic arms of the future satellite have recently undergone critical thermal vacuum testing and are now at Northrop Grumman's satellite integration facility in Dulles, Virginia. The manipulators were developed under a contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

SpaceLogistics positions the MRV as a versatile solution in the space services market, encompassing satellite repair, repositioning, and space debris removal.
