The SPHEREx spacecraft (Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization, and Ices Explorer) utilizes a spectrophotometer to conduct a panoramic survey of the sky in the near-infrared range.
During its two-year mission, it will carry out four complete sky surveys, assess the redshifts of approximately 450 million galaxies and the parameters of cosmological inflation in the early Universe, as well as investigate the prevalence and composition of water and biogenic ices during the early stages of star formation and protoplanetary disks.
