Thousands of residents in the southeastern United States witnessed fragments of the Starlink-4682 spacecraft scattering across the sky, leaving behind a glowing trail of debris visible for miles.
The Starlink-4682 satellite was launched into space in August 2022 and spent two years there before returning to Earth. According to astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell, who tracks objects in near-Earth space, the satellite re-entered the Earth's atmosphere and flew over Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oklahoma before ultimately disintegrating in the sky over Texas.
