According to experts, sea dragons can grow up to 45 centimeters in length. They carry their eggs on their tails using a special pouch that can hold between 250 and 300 eggs.
Sea dragons Phyllopteryx taeniolatus are found exclusively in Australia and belong to a species of marine ray-finned fish from the family Syngnathidae.
Unlike their close relatives, sea horses, dragons are characterized by numerous spines on their heads and branched, ribbon-like appendages on their bodies, resembling aquatic plants among which this species resides.
