The director of one of the transport companies in Dnipro, Mykhailo Klokun, reported that since the beginning of the war, the rise in fuel prices and the cost of bus maintenance have led to significant challenges for the transport enterprise, as relayed by "Vydomo" citing the Dnipro City Council.
"For instance, in July 2022, the technical maintenance for one bus cost between 4,500 and 7,000 hryvnias per month. Now, in December 2024, it has increased to 10,000-15,000 hryvnias. The price increase for spare parts is directly linked to the rise in the euro exchange rate. Tires have also nearly doubled in price. Previously, the cheapest tires for medium-capacity buses cost 3,200 hryvnias, but now they are 6,000 hryvnias. For larger buses, the price has risen from 6,000 to 12,000 hryvnias per tire," he stated.
Another significant factor has been the increase in electricity costs and power outages.
"Due to the power outages, transport enterprises are forced to use powerful diesel generators, which also puts considerable strain on the budget," the director noted.
