The spotlight has turned to the subcontractors of the Italian company Leonardo, who, according to the investigation, used cheaper and substandard types of titanium and aluminum for manufacturing certain parts, allowing them to save significant amounts on raw material costs.
This ultimately resulted in the production of aircraft components with significantly lower strength and static stability characteristics, affecting flight safety. It is known that at least 4,829 non-compliant titanium components and 1,158 aluminum components were manufactured.
Recently, it seems that not a month goes by without Boeing being embroiled in yet another scandal due to various incidents: from issues with aircraft to unqualified workers hired for creating rockets.
