The Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada rejected amendments to the bill "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025," which proposed to forgo the increase in salaries for prosecutors.
Thus, prosecutors' salaries may increase by 37% next year, requiring an allocation of three billion hryvnias.
This was reported by Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of the "Golos" faction, on his
Telegram channel.
According to him, 14 committee members supported this decision, four abstained, and one voted against it.
"At the insistence of deputies from the relevant committee, as well as First Deputy Prosecutor General Mr. Komenko and the Chairman of the Council of Prosecutors, the Budget Committee ultimately rejected the amendment that would eliminate the increase in prosecutors' salaries by nearly 3 billion UAH. This increase of 37%... In fact, the Committee agreed to raise prosecutors' salaries in the budget for 2025," Zheleznyak wrote on Telegram.
In a subsequent message, he noted: "They raised taxes historically – decided to engage in historical populism. Just as there was a scandal about prosecutors' payments – they supported the increase in prosecutors' salaries by 37%."
We remind you that on October 28, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky
registered a draft resolution in the Verkhovna Rada to grant consent for the dismissal of Andriy Kostin from the position of Prosecutor General.
On October 22, Andriy Kostin
resigned from the post of head of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The decision regarding the resignation followed a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine chaired by President Zelensky. They
discussed the situation with the MSEC and abuses by officials from various state bodies concerning disability claims. The President emphasized that the Prosecutor General should also bear responsibility for such a situation.
