NASA engineers successfully conducted the initial tests of the X-59 aircraft engine at low RPMs. Following this, they applied the first full load and tested the functionality of all critical systems, including hydraulics and electrical equipment.

The experimental supersonic aircraft X-59 is being developed for conducting quiet flights at speeds exceeding the speed of sound.
The aim of its testing is to assess the acceptability of supersonic passenger transport flights that should not disturb people’s hearing, even when flying overhead. These findings could assist in reevaluating the bans on commercial supersonic flights over land.
The F414-GE-100 engine equipped in the X-59 will enable the aircraft to reach speeds of approximately 1488 kilometers per hour at an altitude of around 16 kilometers.
According to NASA's plans, the first flight of the X-59 is scheduled for early 2025.
