The fastest man-made object has come the closest it has ever been to the Sun.

NASA's automated spacecraft for studying the Sun's outer corona, the Parker Solar Probe, reestablished communication with Earth on December 27 after traveling within 6.1 million kilometers of the Sun's surface. The probe achieved an incredible speed of 692,017 kilometers per hour, setting a new record and coming the closest it has ever been to the star.

For several days, communication with the probe was not possible, but now it will begin transmitting data collected during its close approach to the Sun. The spacecraft is expected to send detailed telemetry about its status on January 1.

Let us remind you that on June 29, 2024, the Parker probe reached a speed of 635,266 kilometers per hour (approximately 500 times the speed of sound), making it the fastest man-made object, and on December 24, it broke its own speed record.
