The flight path of the missile extended from Vandenberg Air Force Base to the Ronald Reagan Test Site in the Marshall Islands, located southeast of Japan. The flight range was 6,760 kilometers.
The Minuteman III ICBM is the only American intercontinental ballistic missile that is silo-based. It was first deployed over 50 years ago.
Approximately 400 of these missiles are currently housed in underground silos across the United States. They are regularly tested and upgraded.
