Construction has resumed on a massive artificial island in Dubai.

The new artificial island of Jebel Ali, set to surpass other artificial islands in the United Arab Emirates in scale, was initiated back in 2002. However, the project was put on hold for over 15 years due to the economic crisis in 2008. Now, construction is planned to be completed within a tight timeframe by 2027.

News about the resumption of construction emerged at the end of 2023 when the Dubai government allocated a significant amount of funds, but work only commenced recently.

The new video showcases how ships are filling in the scattered branches, and road construction is underway.

On the new island, which covers an area of 13.4 square kilometers (for comparison, it's twice the size of Male, the capital of the Maldives), and features a total coastline of 110 kilometers, it is planned that 35,000 families will reside there according to Dubai's master development plan for 2040.
