In the first year of the war, Ukrainians transferred $35 billion abroad, according to Zelensky.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that in the first year of the full-scale war, Ukrainians exported $35 billion abroad.

Зеленский сообщил, что в первый год войны украинцы вывезли за границу 35 миллиардов долларов.
This led to a collapse of the economy.

The President of Ukraine discussed this in an interview with Piers Morgan.

“In the first year of the war, citizens of Ukraine officially exported 35 billion (dollars) from Ukraine, just in the first year of the war. 35 billion! And no one could stop them. It’s their money, it’s their rights, they are free. But they were not only taking it out this way; they were also transferring their accounts abroad – to Europe, the United States, and other countries. Yes, our economy collapsed. And one of the reasons was precisely this - the outflow of large capital from Ukraine,” noted Zelensky.

Against this backdrop, assistance from international partners was crucial and significant, and Ukraine is very grateful for it. At the same time, often the foreign funds announced in packages did not fully reach the budget, as they were used for the production of weapons supplied to Ukraine and for supporting refugees.

“A portion of the funds mentioned by the USA financed production in the United States. Yes, the companies that manufactured weapons certainly stated that all this weaponry was for Ukraine, and we are indeed grateful for that. But we were already told once about this weapon when a package of 46 billion was delivered. They increased production in the USA. Yes, this helped us, we are thankful, but all this money remained in the USA, in specific companies, at specific factories, in the profits of specific individuals, and in the salaries of exclusively American citizens working in these companies,” explained the president.

In the Netherlands, 59% of Ukrainians affected by Russia's full-scale invasion are already employed here.

Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, Ukrainians have already started receiving rejections for lease renewals while their visa renewal process is ongoing. Some have been informed that they will not be able to work for this reason.
