This situation prevented the engineering team from obtaining scientific data and information regarding the technical status of the probe that was launched into space back in 1977.
In early November, after a series of manipulations, the engineers were able to reactivate the X-band transmitter, and starting from November 18, the spacecraft resumed data collection from four operational scientific instruments.
It turned out that the X-band transmitter had been disabled by the spacecraft's fault protection system when the engineers activated the heater for some of the scientific tools. Consequently, they turned it off again and were surprised to find that several instruments continued to operate despite the temperatures being lower than those during the tests.
