Five people in a two-person boat: a Dnipro region resident and his companions attempted to cross the Tisza River (PHOTOS, VIDEO).

At the border with Hungary, border guards pulled five men from the Tisza River, who had been promised a smooth crossing by anonymous smugglers for a large sum of money. The offenders were apprehended just as they were trying to board a boat. This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, as conveyed by "Vidomo".

On the evening of Friday, November 8, during a patrol, the crew noticed a group of individuals moving quickly toward the border. It turned out that the inflatable boat intended for their escape from Ukraine was only two-seater. Therefore, the vessel was insufficient for all those wanting to board it, leading some of the men to even attempt to jump into the cold river to swim across on their own.

The border guards assisted the men in getting out of the water. They were detained and taken to a unit where they could warm up and dry their clothes. The violators turned out to be residents of Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, and Zakarpattia regions. Protocols regarding administrative offenses, as stipulated in Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine," were drawn up against the detainees.

During the investigation of the circumstances, the offenders revealed that each of them had paid unknown individuals between 8,000 and 11,000 US dollars for assistance in illegally crossing the border. The smugglers assured the men that this would be a safe method, and after receiving the full amount, they informed them that they would have to swim across the Tisza.

Subsequently, an unknown person brought a two-seater rubber boat and pointed out the direction of the river. Currently, the circle of individuals involved in organizing the illegal journey of the men is being established.
