Law enforcement officials apprehended two agents of the Russian intelligence service who were planning a terrorist attack in Kyiv.
This information was
reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, enemy accomplices were supposed to detonate homemade explosives in a crowded area of the Ukrainian capital. Their aim was to cause as many deaths as possible to instill panic among Ukrainians.
To achieve this, Russian intelligence recruited a 20-year-old resident of Zaporizhzhia, who was looking for easy money in Telegram channels. The woman was given detailed instructions on how to make explosives herself.
The suspect also involved her 26-year-old partner in the "operation." Before the attack, they were to complete a "control" task: to set fire to several vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian military in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The Security Service caught the criminals "in the act" as they attempted to ignite a BMP that was on a mission at the southern front. The couple had their mobile phones seized, containing evidence of their subversive activities in favor of the Russian Federation, as well as the "tools of the crime."
Both were informed of their suspicion of treason. The "terrorists" face life imprisonment with property confiscation, and they are currently in custody without the right to bail.
Previously, we reported that the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine
neutralized a group of teenagers who, at the behest of Russian special services, were burning relay cabinets of Ukrzaliznytsia.
We also reported that the SBU and police
detained five accomplices of the aggressor state who were setting fire to vehicles of the Defense Forces and railway facilities.
