Zelensky intends to discuss Ukraine's NATO invitation with Biden soon.

President Vladimir Zelensky is planning to call White House Chief Joe Biden in the near future.

Зеленский намерен обсудить с Байденом вопрос о приглашении Украины в НАТО в скором времени.
The head of state wishes to discuss Ukraine's invitation to NATO.

This was reported by the agency "Ukrinform," which quotes Zelensky during a conversation with journalists.

As Zelensky explained, it is currently challenging to talk about Ukraine's invitation to NATO with the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump. The politician is not leading the White House at the moment and does not possess the corresponding legal rights.

"I plan to call President Biden soon, if he is available, to discuss the issue of NATO invitation, as he is the sitting President of the United States, and much depends on his position," Zelensky stated.

He noted that Kyiv could consider French President Emmanuel Macron's proposal to send some foreign troops to Ukraine while the country is not yet a NATO member.

"But we must have a clear understanding of when Ukraine will be in the EU and when Ukraine will become a NATO member," the president added.

Western allies expect the inauguration of the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the commencement of his administration's work to base their discussions on Ukraine's NATO invitation on that. This was stated by Latvia's Foreign Minister, Baiba Braže, in Brussels.

The principle that the only acceptable format for security guarantees is full NATO membership, proclaimed by Ukraine, does not contradict existing security agreements between Ukraine and partner states, stated Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.
