The State Bureau of Investigations revealed instances of torture and murder of inmates in a prison located in Poltava region.

In the "Bozhkov Correctional Colony (No. 16)", an organized group operated that tortured and killed inmates.

Five officials from the facility have been notified of suspicion.

As established by the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR), investigators have managed to prove not only instances of abuse and beatings but also actual murders of inmates, where the brutality of the torture led to the death of prisoners.

The investigation revealed that the victims of the criminals were almost all individuals who were entering the colony for the first time. There is documented evidence of the death of one inmate due to inflicted bodily injuries.

It is reported that newcomers were threatened and beaten until their will was broken, compelling them to comply unconditionally with any directives from the facility administration.

The DBR states that from the moment of arrival at the colony, each convict underwent a harsh intake procedure, during which newcomers were forced to clean the floor while this process was recorded on video: "In case of refusal, they were subjected to torture: beaten with hands, feet, rubber batons, sticks on various body parts, arms were twisted, etc.

Among other things, for instance, there is documented evidence of more than 200 strikes inflicted on one of the convicts.

Five officials of the State Institution Bozhkovskaya Correctional Colony (No. 16) have been notified of new suspicions under part 3 of Article 28 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (organized group), part 2 of Article 127 (torture), and the actions of the leader of the organized group are additionally qualified under part two of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional serious bodily injury).

The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for up to 10 years.
