The past year, 2024, has been the most challenging for Ukraine's energy system since the onset of the full-scale war with Russian aggressors.
The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, Herman Halushchenko, made this statement during a television marathon.
He reminded that in 2024, the enemy began shelling the energy system as early as spring.
“This was indeed the most challenging year [2024]. Because, even when analyzing the strikes that occurred in 2022 and 2023, they [the Russians] began massive strikes, for example, on October 10. In 2024, it started much earlier, in March,” –
quotes Halushchenko as reported by RBC-Ukraine.
According to the Minister of Energy, the destruction caused by strikes on the energy sector is significantly greater than in previous years. In particular, the nature of the strikes, their complexity, and the weaponry used by the enemy have changed.
It should be noted that Russian aggressors continue their air attacks on Ukraine. Specifically, during the night of January 2, the enemy
launched over 70 drones. Approximately fifty of them were intercepted by air defense, while the others disappeared from radar (without negative consequences).
