President Volodymyr Zelensky signed Law No. 4197-IX, which amends the law "On Military Duty and Military Service."
The innovations pertain to the specifics of registering conscripts for military service and the medical examination during basic military training.
This is
reported by the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the law, every year from January 1 to July 31, young men who have reached the age of 17 are registered as conscripts. Their information is entered into the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Military Personnel, and Reservists through:
- an electronic cabinet;
- personal arrival at the territorial center for recruitment and social support (TCK and SP).
Before the start of practical classes in basic training, they undergo a medical examination.
Moreover, the law allows for the registration of servicemen who have deserted (SZH), but voluntarily returned to their military units, until March 1. In such cases, the commander must restore military service within 72 hours, extend the contract, and ensure the payment of monetary support and the provision of other types of assistance.
For women, the law states that they can voluntarily register for military service if they are fit for duty and have expressed a desire to participate in basic military training.
