Law enforcement officials have dismantled three schemes aimed at evading military service, orchestrated by representatives of the MSEC and VLC.
According to the
Office of the Prosecutor General, a head of one of the medical departments in Dnipropetrovsk region has been exposed. The suspect demanded 5,000 dollars and 10,000 hryvnias from a local resident. In return, she promised to influence the decision of the members of the Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC) regarding the assignment of a II disability group to the victim's daughter, who has had a III group disability since childhood. This would allow her brother, who is subject to military service, to receive a deferment from mobilization.
In Kharkiv region, a therapist (rehabilitation specialist) from one of the interdistrict medical and social expert commissions has been detained – the 14th participant in the criminal scheme that law enforcement uncovered in October 2024. At that time, the head of this MSEC and 12 accomplices were reported as suspects for helping men obtain fictitious disability status for money to avoid military conscription.
In Kropyvnytskyi, a military medical commission surgeon was exposed for receiving an unlawful benefit of 5,000 dollars from a conscript. For this amount, the suspect promised to classify the man as unfit for military service by mobilization, allowing him to serve in non-combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Depending on the crimes committed, the suspects are charged with receiving unlawful benefits associated with extortion for themselves and third parties for influencing officials authorized to perform state functions (part 3 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, forgery of an official document, as well as the use of a knowingly forged document (part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 114-1, part 3, 4 of article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Previously, we reported that a member of the Military Medical Commission (VLC) in Cherkasy region was
