The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, have signed a 100-year partnership agreement.
The text of the document was published by the press service of the President's Office.
The signing ceremony took place today in Kyiv. It is known that the document consists of 14 articles.
Under the agreement, the parties will deepen defense cooperation, enhance their military and defense-industrial capabilities, and transfer technologies for the joint production of defense products.
“The parties will develop areas whose importance for the Euro-Atlantic world and stability goes beyond war, recognizing Ukraine's crucial role in safeguarding Euro-Atlantic security and paying special attention to operational compatibility and Ukraine's contribution as a future NATO ally,” the document states.
Ukraine and the UK also agreed to deepen economic, energy, scientific, cultural, and trade cooperation, as well as develop partnerships in maritime security in the Baltic, Black, and Azov Seas.
The agreement will be valid for 100 years from the date it comes into effect. Each party may terminate it unilaterally by sending written notice to the other party.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of 2024, Ukraine has also signed 27 bilateral security agreements. The dynamics of signing documents and the promised funding amount are detailed in the infographic by “Slovo i Delo”.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the bilateral security agreements Ukraine is concluding with allies are not an alternative to NATO membership.
