A platoon commander from the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade is wanted, suspected of mistreating his subordinates.

The commander of one of the platoons of the pontoon-bridge battalion of the 211th pontoon-bridge brigade is under suspicion of exceeding official authority, unauthorized departure from the military unit, and desertion.

From February to May, during his deployment in the eastern Ukraine conflict zone, the suspect repeatedly used violence against at least three military personnel.

This information was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

In February 2024, while in Dnipropetrovsk region, the suspect assaulted a soldier because he was inebriated. The officer kicked him in the face and continued to hit him on other parts of the body.

Subsequently, while in the Donetsk region, the suspect again beat this soldier and ordered his subordinates to tie him to a wooden structure.

It later emerged that in Dnipropetrovsk, the suspect assaulted another soldier over a dispute regarding the publication of a video revealing inadequate living conditions. Additionally, in May, while in Kharkiv region, he beat a subordinate due to alleged improper conduct.

An investigation is currently underway to establish all facts of violence against soldiers in the brigade. The suspect is evading authorities, and thus has been declared wanted.

The prosecutor has already submitted a petition to the court, and the investigating judge has granted the request for permission to detain the suspect for the purpose of bringing him to participate in the hearing regarding the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Earlier, the commander of the 211th Pontoon Bridge Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleg Poberezhnyuk, was taken into custody with the possibility of posting bail of 908,400 UAH.

Later, the commander of the 211th Pontoon Bridge Brigade, Colonel Oleg Poberezhnyuk, was released from custody on bail amounting to 908,400 UAH.
