"I won't endorse an agreement that will burden ten generations of Ukrainians," Zelensky stated regarding the minerals deal with the U.S.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that during discussions with U.S. President Joe Biden, the focus was on grant assistance rather than loans.

Зеленский заявил, что не согласится на соглашение по ископаемым с США, если выплаты будут длиться 10 поколений украинцев.

“I had an agreement with Biden that this is a grant. A grant is not a debt. I do not recognize the $100 billion,” he emphasized.

Zelensky also noted that the agreement between the U.S. and Ukraine regarding fossil fuels needs to include security guarantees, which are currently absent.

“I do not intend to acknowledge $500 billion in debt in the fossil fuels agreement with the U.S. Whether someone likes it or not. However, an economic agreement can serve as a security guarantee,” the head of state remarked.

He stressed that the agreement between Ukraine and the U.S. should not just be economic but part of a security guarantee system for the country.

“I know how to sign agreements with serious people. I do not sign what will burden ten generations of Ukrainians,” Zelensky emphasized.

According to him, the agreement states that for every dollar of U.S. aid, Ukraine must return two.

“I highlighted this in red. This is a 100% loan. If this is forced and we cannot do without it, then we probably have to go for it,” he explained.

The president also inquired whether the U.S. receives 100% profit when selling or providing weapons as aid packages to countries like Israel, Qatar, or Saudi Arabia.

Zelensky reported that the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, is currently negotiating with American partners, and the agreement no longer includes any $500 billion debt or interest.

“We are making progress,” the president concluded.

Earlier, we reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the coming days could be crucial for security issues and the peaceful resolution of the war.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that by 2025, Ukraine aims to do the “possible and impossible” to achieve a lasting and just peace. This must be a peace with security guarantees for the state.
